About Christopher Bunk
I'm Chief Product & Technology Officer at FastSpring, a global payments platform serving 3,500+ SaaS, software, and gaming companies. With over 20 years in technology leadership, I specialize in scaling organizations, driving digital transformation, and building AI-native product capabilities.
What I Do
I build and lead technology organizations that deliver business results. My career has been defined by taking teams through hypergrowth—expanding engineering organizations from 15 to 200+ members, scaling platforms to billions of transactions, and transforming how companies build products.
Most recently, as SVP of Engineering at Worldpay/Payrix, I scaled the platform to billions in monthly transactions while growing the team from 70 to 150 engineers. Before that, at MoneyLion/Even Financial, I drove 25x+ revenue growth through ML-driven decisioning and organizational transformation.
How I Think About Technology Leadership
I believe the best technology leaders are force multipliers—they create systems and cultures where talented people can do their best work. That means:
Empowered teams over command-and-control. Mission-oriented teams with clear outcomes outperform feature factories every time.
AI as augmentation, not replacement. The companies that win will be those that figure out how to amplify human capability with AI, not those racing to eliminate headcount.
Strategy before tactics. Every technical decision should trace back to business outcomes. Architecture astronauts who optimize for elegance over impact don't last long on my teams.
The Journey Here
My path has been unconventional. I started at NASA, where I designed systems for the Orion spacecraft and earned three Honor Awards, an eGov Pioneer Award, and was nominated for the Rotary National Space Achievement Award. From there I moved through consulting, startups, media (Refinery29), IoT (Human Condition Safety), and FinTech.
Each stop taught me something different: NASA taught me systems thinking and rigorous engineering. Startups taught me speed and resourcefulness. Enterprise taught me scale and organizational design. FinTech taught me what it means when the system going down costs real money.
Beyond Work
I live in Norwalk, Connecticut with my wife and three kids: William (12), Alice (10), and Mary (6). We have two cats, a fish, and a red-eared slider turtle approaching 30 years old—originally a "classroom pet" from my wife's teaching days that we didn't realize would outlive most careers.
I'm an Eagle Scout, which probably explains why I still enjoy backpacking, camping, and being outdoors. I ski with the family and cook as a creative outlet.
